FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The 2025 Black Achievers Awards will be recognizing community trailblazers on Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale.

For 33 years, JM Family Enterprises has been presenting the awards, formerly known as the African-American Achievers Awards.

Shirley Richardson and Patricia E. Williams, of the M. Ensemble, a theater company, are set to accept the award in the arts and culture category.

Dr. Herman Allen, a dental surgeon at the Medical Center in Lauderhill, is set to accept the award in the business and entrepreneurship category.

Henri W. Crockett, a retired NFL player who was a linebacker at Florida State University and grew up in Pompano Beach, is set to accept the award in the community service category for his work with The Crockett Foundation.

Annie Ruth Nelson, the president of the African American Research Library and Cultural Center of Palm Beach County, was set to receive the award in the education category.

Richanna Lyons, who was admitted to FSU, will be the recipient of the 2025 Jerome Edmund Gray Youth Achiever, a four-year scholarship.

The awards’ ceremony is at the Parker Playhouse, a 1,147-seat theater at 707 NE 8 St. For more information about the award, visit this page.
