A South Florida man is facing multiple charges related to two murders and an attempted murder in Central Florida. Miami Gardens police responded to a home where they found 45-year-old Gabriel Hubbart shot several times outside his residence; he later died from his injuries.On the same day, gunshots rang out in North Miami outside Dondrey Nelson’s home.Her son, 35-year-old Joshua Nelson, was outside washing the car when the shooting occurred.”I heard him running, and he called ma, and I ran to the back door, and I said come in the house, Josh,” Dondrey Nelson said. “I didn’t hear anymore gunshots and I peeked outside, and he was laying in the backyard, gasping for air.”Despite her efforts to perform CPR and call 911, Joshua Nelson died.Dennard Barnes, 35, was named as a person of interest in both deadly shootings and was arrested by the Cocoa Police Department.Investigators say he drove hours up the coast to Brevard County, where he shot another person.According to a report, Barnes was inside a home in Clearlake Village when witnesses say he pulled out a big gun and shot a 24-year-old. The witness told police Barnes is the father of her child, but does not live there.The 24-year-old victim was shot with an AK-style pistol, according to the affidavit, and is expected to survive.Dondrey Nelson, who said Barnes was her son’s best friend, expressed her distress over the events.”I’m upset that he interrupted so many lives,” she said. “He affected so many lives.”Barnes was arrested by the Cocoa Police Department. He was taken to Cape Canaveral Hospital to get cleared to go to the Brevard County Jail. While at the Cape Canaveral Hospital to be medically cleared, Barnes tried to grab the officer’s gun, according to the report. The officer stated that Barnes’s legs were restrained, and when he tried to cuff him from behind his back, Barnes lunged for his service pistol. As Barnes attempted to take the service pistol, he punched the officer in the face.Barnes is currently in the Brevard County Jail on multiple charges.He’s being held on no bond.
