SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS

Jacksonville opened the 2026 campaign on a red-hot start. The Dolphins swept Rhode Island and LIU in respective 4-game series, with their lone loss of the season coming to Florida State sandwiched between the two series. JU was picked third in the Graphite Division of the ASUN. Jonah Shields and Conner Spelman were named to the Preseason All-ASUN team. Derek Bermudez is tied for the national lead with 21 RBI. Friday night starter Alex Walsh is one of the nation’s best in ERA at 0.96 through 9.1 innings pitched.

THINGS TO KNOW

– UAB and Jacksonville meet for the first time since 1991. The schools have never met in Birmingham.

Kevin Hall Jr. and Andrew Hunt are tied for the team lead reaching base in seven straight games. Hunt’s streak dates back to last season as he has officially reached in 14 consecutive games. Hall leads the team with five multi-hit games. Both players are each 10-for-24 in their last six games.

– In American Conference rankings, the Blazers lead the conference in home runs (14) and assists (107). The Blazers also ranks second in stolen bases (19), double plays (9), and are third in fielding percentage (.980).

– UAB is 5-0 when it scores at least eight runs this season.
