GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – There is a horse not far off the beaten path in Gadsden County, whose talent has taken him to famous arenas from as far away as Kentucky and Texas.
Rovy used to saddle up to show off his skills, but now, it’s his prowess with a paintbrush that’s turning heads and drawing crowds.
Rovy is a 24-year-old Lipizzan Andalusian thoroughbred cross. Over the years, Sandra Beauliau and Rovy have competed in dressage and performed in some of the horse world’s most famous arenas.
“I get a little emotional because we’ve done a lot together,” Beauliau said.
Now, Rovy is right at home at the easel, working for applause and treats. Beauliau dips the brushes in the color of her choice, and Rovy does the rest.

“He loves to paint because he likes to perform in general. So he’s always been good at performing,” Beauliau said. “You can see I make the brushes with rope and then tape them on. I have to change them often because they get dirty, but that gives him something squishy to hold on to.”
The powerful bond between horse and rider, artist and performer, is evident in all they do — whether it’s the equivalent of horse ballet or a big toothy smile with a dab of pink paint.

“He’s the superstar for the painting. That’s his thing. And he knows it’s his thing,” Beauliau said.
Beauliau and Rovy will be performing in Monticello this weekend at the “Have Heart for Horses Gala,” where one of Rovy’s paintings will be auctioned off to help raise money for Triple R Horse Rescue.

The rescue is hosting the 11th annual gala this Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Homestead Barn in Monticello to raise money for Triple R – a network of horse lovers across north Florida and South Georgia that takes in abandoned, abused and neglected horses.
