New Chance at Momentum on the Streets … A new experience awaits Daniel Hemric as the streets of St. Petersburg, Fla. are set to host the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Trucks Series (NCTS) for the first time in the tour’s 32-year history. Hemric is debuting a bright red scheme on the No. 19 Motion Industries Chevrolet Silverado RST for the first of five scheduled races with MHR. He and the team hope the new look translates to new results and create momentum. The 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) champion is still searching for his first top-10 of the season but has plenty of road course success to suggest a breakthrough effort is on the docket.
“Here I Am, on the Road Again” … Road course events have provided Hemric numerous opportunities at victory throughout his career, and the Motion Industries team looks to capitalize on that in the inaugural NCTS street race. Last season, Hemric finished second at Watkins Glen International after battling for the top spot in the waning laps. In his career throughout the three national series, Hemric has 40 road course starts and has collected top-10 results on 12 occasions. He has been especially efficient in his five NCTS road course appearances by tallying three top-five’s and four top-10’s across three different tracks. Hemric is also one of the few drivers in the field that has street course experience with starts at the Chicago street course in both the NXS and NASCAR Cup Series.
Season to Date … Hemric is highly motivated to break out of his slump just two races into the 2026 campaign. A pair of unfortunate mechanical issues at Daytona International Speedway and EchoPark Speedway have him buried 29th in the championship standings. A strong run similar to what Hemric has showcased throughout his career would help guide the No. 19 squad upwards in the points to join two of his MHR teammates in the top-10.
Tune In … The first laps on the St. Pete streets get underway at 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon with practice and qualifying, live on FOX Sports 2. Coverage continues Saturday at Noon ET with the green flag on FOX Sports 1. Daniel Hemric Quote:
On entering the inaugural NASCAR event at St. Petersburg:
“It’s going to be an interesting weekend, no doubt. No one has any notes since we’re the first NASCAR series to race at St. Pete. I feel fortunate to have done the Chicago street race, so I kind of know what to expect as far as sight lines and how tight these courses truly are. The track is definitely going to be a challenge, but hopefully our Motion Industries Chevrolet is up to the task. There’s going to be some hard braking zones and some longer straightaways that create passing opportunities. I think the intensity will ramp up on the restarts after each stage, so qualifying will be a big factor this weekend with controlled pit stops. Hopefully we can get our weekend off strong on Friday and execute a clean day Saturday.”
