The Pinellas County Housing Authority (PCHA) has submitted plans for a mid-rise housing development for seniors in St. Petersburg.
The unnamed venture would measure seven stories and comprise 80 residences. The average unit would span 700 square feet, and residents would have access to 12 surface-level parking spots. Additionally, there would be a host of on-site indoor and outdoor amenities, the specifics of which have not been announced.
To meet the demand for affordable housing in the region, units would be available to households earning 60 to 80 percent of the area median income (AMI). Pinellas County’s median household income is currently $56,737.
If approved, the venture would occupy a parking lot often used for Tampa Bay Rays games. Part of the PCHA’s proposal includes a $1 bid for the government-owned lot. The PCHA has partnered with Ascension Real Estate Partners on the venture. STORYN Studio for Architecture is the design planner.
The 80-unit affordable housing project would occupy 1659 3rd Ave. S., St. Petersburg, Florida, 33712, in Pinellas County. It would also be located next door to the recently completed Modera St. Petersburg, a 20-story, 383-unit project that Florida YIMBY covered last year.
