ORLANDO, Fla. – Much-needed rainfall is set to arrive across Central Florida, offering relief as drought conditions continue to worsen.
While this round of rain will not be drought-busting, it is expected to make a dent to many areas before drier conditions return next week.

FRIDAY
Temperatures will warm quickly, climbing into the 80s by early afternoon.
Southwest winds will continue to transport deeper moisture into the area, ramping up late day showers and thunderstorms. Rain chances rise to 60-70% into the night.
A few storms may become strong as enough instability could support gusty winds in the strongest cells. The main threat will be the widespread rainfall that could rack up to 1-2 inches.
Showers and storms will persist through the night as a slow-moving front progresses south across the area.

SATURDAY
Rain chances remain elevated overnight and into Saturday. As the front turns stationary overhead, it will remain to be a focal point for more rain through the afternoon.
Coverage remains at 50-60% as highs remain in the upper 70s.
SUNDAY
On Sunday, a few coastal showers cannot be ruled out, but overall coverage will be lower.
Breezy northeast winds will develop Sunday, with gusts occasionally exceeding 20 mph.
NEXT WEEK
Rain chances decrease significantly during the upcoming workweek, with only isolated coastal showers expected at times.
Temperatures will continue to trend above normal again Monday through Thursday, in the upper 70s to low 80s.
