In a city council workshop on Thursday night, some Gulfport residents expressed concern about the cooperation agreement Gulfport Police signed with federal immigration authorities.

Two bills to designate groups as domestic terrorist organizations advanced in the Florida House

House Bill 1471 would establish a Chief of Domestic Security and give them the power to designate certain organizations as domestic terrorist groups. HB1473 requires that the information used to decide if an organization should be designated as a domestic terrorist group should be exempted from public record.

Advocates say the emergency ruling from the Florida Department of Health could be a “death warrant” for HIV patients.
