TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee woman found guilty aggravated manslaughter in the death of her son was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
Cameren Evans was found guilty in February for the 2023 death of her three-year-old son, Enrique Evans.
Court records show the toddler died of “fentanyl toxicity.”

Testimony in Evans’s trial went on for two days and saw her sister take the stand, saying that she had seen scales on the kitchen counter where Evans and the child lived.
Evans’s 19 year sentence will be followed by 20 years of probation. Court documents show she has a credit of 304 days time served.
Evans’s former boyfriend, Tony Balcom, is also facing charges in the toddler’s death.

A mistrial was declared in February after a jury deliberated for about five hours before telling the judge they could not agree on a verdict.
Prosecutors claim Balcom was the primary caregiver of the child and he left unsecured drugs in the apartment.
Prosecutors are set to retry Balcom on March 2.
