A blue ribbon was cut and just like that a new grocery store officially opened in Southwest Florida on Thursday (Feb. 26).

The new grocery store, an Aldi that’s located at 3510 Del Prado Boulevard North in Cape Coral, celebrated its opening in style and with an assortment of goodies for early arrivals like:

The first 200 customers on received a “Golden Ticket” that was worth up to $100.

The first 200 customers will received a bag of Aldi goodies in a free eco-friendly bag stuffed with Aldi products.

How many Aldi grocery stores are in Florida?

Florida has the most Aldi stores in the U.S. As of Feb. 10, the Aldi websites lists 297 stores in the Sunshine State.

Aldi opened more than 60 new and converted stores in Florida last year.

Two more Florida locations are opening on Feb. 26 − one in Fort Walton Beach and one in Jacksonville.

What is Aldi known for?

The discount chain is famous for low prices and a lack of grocery store standards such as a deli, a bakery, a pharmacy, or even overhead music.

Aldi U.S. plans to open more than 180 new stores nationwide in 2026.

“One in three U.S. households shopped at ALDI this past year, and in 2026 we’re focused on making it even easier for customers to shop our aisles first,” said Aldi U.S. CEO Atty McGrath in a release. It’s part of the German-based chain’s long-term goal of 3,200 stores by the end of 2028.

The company said it plans to continue converting the nearly 80 Winn-Dixie and Harvey’s Supermarket locations it retained after briefly acquiring the company in 2024-2025, with nearly 20 more in progress around the state, according to local media and filings.
