The Orlando International Airport has installed another set of the new Gate Link trams, which are part of the airport’s initiative to upgrade its automated Gate Link tram system. The project will cost $253 Million.
The gate link is the tram that connects Terminals A and B to their gates. In addition to replacing the tram vehicles, the airport will also upgrade infrastructure, communication systems, and platform doors.
Specifically, the project includes the replacement of all vehicles, running surfaces, operating systems, power distribution equipment, vehicle controls, communication systems, and platform screen doors.
The Gate Links are an essential component to MCO’s ability to facilitate the smooth flow of both arriving and departing traffic. It connects the North Terminal Complex (Terminals A & B) and Gates 70-129, which includes Airside 2 and Airside 4.
