The Dead Boys show at West End might not be happening this weekend, but downtown Sanford will still be rocking to benefit a popular community event.

Sanford Loves Porchfest happens this Saturday, Feb. 28, to both show up and raise money for the Sanford Porchfest Corporation nonprofit while the downtown-wide house party is on pause for this year.

The day and night of music is entered around West End Trading Co., along with 18 other downtown venues including Tuffy’s Music Box & Lounge, The Alley and Ace Café. (Think of it as a Porchfest, but taking place in and around local businesses instead of outside downtown houses.)

The lineup features 50 bands, and performers including Dead Man’s Knee, No Allies, The Rip, Radio 89, Solar Rover, Collision Riot, The Rottens, Constant Throw, The Palmeranians, Smoking Jackets, the Bloody Jug Band, Oak Hill Drifters, Bithlo Rising, Blue Streak Mamas, Gary Lazer Allies, Ancient Sun and TV Generation.

The event is free, but every one of the 19 businesses that that will be part of the event has agreed to donate at least $500 to the Sanford Porchfest Foundation, as reported by the Sanford Herald.

Sanford Hearts Porchfest starts at noon all over downtown Sanford. More information, like band schedules and maps, can be found on the Sanford Main Street’s Facebook. The party keeps going until midnight.
