TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Midtown Reader’s Let’s Read initiative held its first of three book fairs on Tuesday at Oak Ridge Elementary.
The mission was to gift two free books to each student, and thanks to your donations, that mission was accomplished.
In total, from Feb. 1, your donations have helped raise $8,886.
Midtown Reader manager Caylee Wilson said they heard from many people moved to donate.
“Yeah, we got a lot of calls. People just honestly saying that it was really sitting on their hearts. They saw the ad run through WCTV and they were just kind of like, I want to make a difference. I want to help the students that are at these schools near us,” Wilson said. “And so, for them, it was just kind of like making that small little impact can make a difference in a child’s life.”
Wilson said the donations have ranged from $6, which is enough for one book, to hundreds of dollars.
