DELAND, Fla. – Jacksonville University beach volleyball split its opening day at the Stetson Spring Fling on Friday, falling to No. 14 Stetson in the morning before responding with a 4-1 victory versus Eckerd to secure its first win of the 2026 season.

The Dolphins opened the day against the nationally ranked Hatters at 10:15 a.m. at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex. No. 14 Stetson earned a 5-0 result, taking all five courts.

At No. 1, EJ Cudmore and Julia Radelczuk defeated Claire Mrukowski and Megan Hair, 21-16, 21-15. Maria Ozaeta and Marta Carro secured a straight-set win at No. 2 over Jamie Seward and Hayden Garnett, 21-10, 21-11.

The most competitive match of the dual came at No. 3, where Annina Muukka and Zoe Flueckiger rallied past Avery Kleithermes and Meredith Mrukowski in three sets, 18-21, 21-17, 15-11.

Stetson also picked up wins at No. 4 and No. 5 to complete the sweep.

Jacksonville bounced back in its second dual of the day, earning a 4-1 victory to notch the program’s first win of the year.

The Dolphins secured wins on Courts 2, 3, 4 and 5:

No. 2: Jamie Seward and Hayden Garnett earned a 21-12, 22-20 victory.

No. 3: Avery Kleithermes and Morgan Perry delivered a 21-16, 21-15 straight-set win.

No. 4: Katie Martinez and Brenna McDonough claimed a 21-13, 21-18 decision.

No. 5: Kye Swink and Maddie Fielder battled to a three-set win, 16-21, 21-16, 15-9.

Stetson Spring Fling play continues Saturday as the Dolphins look to carry momentum from their first victory of the 2026 campaign. The team will face off against College of Charleston at 10:15 am est, and close out against Mercer at 2:00 pm.
