Students from Ocoee High School worked tirelessly to put together a Black History Month Showcase Thursday, Feb. 26.

Students in the audience learned about different historic figures from the past that shaped Black history from two students: Zoe Pender and Mia Lomax.

The two girls went through the decades and explained how each figure made an impact and bettered the conditions for Black Americans in the United States.

Students in the showcase performed a variety of arts, including dances, poems and songs.

To end the showcase, audience members were asked to shine their flashlights from their phones, and Josiah Dorestan performed Tyler James Williams’ iconic rap scene from the Disney movie “Let It Shine.”
