ORLANDO, Fla. — Emma Pynes is one of the best softball players in Central Florida. As a sophomore at Cornerstone Charter Academy, she had an over .400 batting average and hit 10 home runs.

“I’m really excited. I feel like this year is going to be a really big year, and I’m super excited for next year also,” Pynes said.
“She’s definitely special. We’ve been fortunate. … For us, being a small school, we have. We’ve had a lot of talent,” Cornerstone Charter Academy softball coach Dan Lobozzo said.
Pynes is committed to Tennessee, one of the best programs in the country, saying it felt like home during her visit.
“I just loved everything about it. The school, the coaches, and even the players all told me great things. And I just fell in love when I was there,” Pynes said.
Pynes is not just great on the field, but she also has a GPA above 4.0 at Cornerstone. On the field, she has taken big strides in her game over the last year.
“She works on and off the field. When she’s not here with us, as far as high school, she plays travel ball,” Lobozzo said.
Pynes started playing softball when she was five and has fallen in love with the game. As she now becomes an upperclassman on the team, she has taken on more of a leadership role.
“I try to be a big leader, especially because we have a lot of younger players. I just try to be the best version of myself for them so we can grow together,” Pynes said.
Emma still has two full high school seasons to improve her craft before she heads off to Knoxville.
