The Brief

A Fire Weather Warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. as low humidity, gusty winds and drought conditions fuel a high brush fire risk.

Rain returns Friday into Saturday with the heaviest showers expected Saturday, along with a few thunderstorms but no severe weather.

The rain will help, but with all of Florida in some level of drought, it won’t be enough to significantly ease conditions.

ORLANDO, Fla. – An increased risk of fire weather danger exists for the rest of the evening.

Low humidity, gusty winds, and worsening drought will combine for a high threat of brush fires.

Brush fire worries

FOX 35 Storm Team Alert

Low humidity, gusty winds, and worsening drought will combine for a high threat of brush fires.

Any flames that breakout could spread quickly, making it difficult for firefighters to contain. Burn bans are already in place for several counties in Central Florida.

Will rain help the drought?

Dig deeper

As of the update today, 100% of Florida is experiencing some level of drought.

This rain will be very helpful, but it will not likely even make a dent in the amount of rain that we need in order to solve the drought problem.
