CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Jingle, the longest-waiting pup at the Cape Coral Animal Shelter, has finally found his forever home.

Jingle suffered from severe skin allergies, which shelter staff said made it difficult for him to get adopted.

Debbie Byrnes, a staff member at the shelter, said, “Jingle is the most loving dog that you could imagine. He’s got everything going for him except his skin.”

Jingle was originally adopted as a young, energetic pup but was returned in January 2024 due to his allergies. Despite being hairless, itchy, and uncomfortable, Jingle never lost his spirit, nor did the staff caring for him. The shelter’s veterinary team worked tirelessly to adjust his diet, treat his skin, and provide him with medications and love.

Liz McCauley, executive director at Cape Coral Animal Shelter, said, “He’s been part of our lives for years.”

After 777 days at the shelter, Jingle’s wait is finally over. He is going home with a new family who was looking for a connection rather than perfection.

“This is a happy, happy day here at Cape Coral Animal Shelter. So after 777 days, Jingle is finally going to his forever home,” McCauley said.

The new family plans to split their time between Cape Coral and Michigan, which they believe will benefit Jingle’s skin condition.

“Fortunately, we found this one who is willing to take the chance he’s going to live half the year here, half the year in Michigan, which I think is going to be good for his skin, too,” McCauley added.

Jingle’s new owner discovered him through WINK News, and the station is proud to have played a part in his adoption process.
