Carole Lynn Duncanson
OBITUARY
Carole Duncanson , age 65, passed away on February 22, 2026 after a long and courageous fight with cancer. She was born in Coral Gables, Florida to Dr. Charles Lowell Brame and Barbara Ann Speer. She grew up with her older brother Gary.
After her father finished his residency at the University of Miami, the family moved to Sarasota, Florida for 3 years. When her father was drafted in the Army in 1965, they moved to Hawaii for 2 years where he was stationed. In 1968 they moved back to Sarasota. She graduated from Riverview High School in 1978, and Emory University in Atlanta in 1982 with degrees in Political Science and French. After graduation she began her political career in Jacksonville, as an aide to a State Representative. She later moved to Pompano Beach to become an aide to Representative Bob Shelley. While working for Representative Shelley she met her husband Harry who was his CPA. She then went to work for the American Cancer Society as Director of Income Development for Broward County.
Carole was active in the Florida Republican Senate Campaigns which led to Senator Jim Scott becoming Senate President. She was his legislative aide for 5 years. Over the years she worked on many successful campaigns fund raising and event planning for city, county, state and federal candidates including, Senator Ken Pruitt who also became Senate President. She was instrumental in helping Senator Pruitt establish his Brighter Futures Foundation organizing a statewide bus tour and rally in Tallahassee with over 5,000 students and educators.
In 1995 Carole became an independent lobbyist representing a broad spectrum of subjects with a focus in healthcare. In her 30 years as a lobbyist she was especially proud of her advocacy successes for the Memorial Healthcare System , Safety Net Hospitals, K9 Partners, Silver Alert Program, Moffitt Cancer Center, the Grapefruit Baseball League, Printing Industry of Florida, Behavioral Healthcare, and Specialized Alzheimer’s Adult Care and many others. She was a member of Leadership Broward , Henderson Mental Health, Broward Outreach Center, and coordinated tennis activities for the Maclay School tennis team in Tallahassee.
Carole was an avid reader, usually a book a week. She loved to travel with Harry and many times with Shannon. France, Italy, England, Scotland, Iceland, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, American West were her favorites. She collected Starbucks coffee mugs from every location around the world.
Carole is survived by her beloved husband Harry, together for 42 years, her treasured daughter Shannon, her loving stepdaughters, Amber Park , husband Jeff, Sheree Fussell, husband Ed, grandchildren Will, Ansley, Scarlett , Harrison, and Rowan, great grandson Lorenzo , brother Gary Brame, wife Teresa, cousins Ann Chittum and Janet Sosnowski as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and her beloved dogs, Murphy and Myrtle.
Carole requests donations be made to the Moffitt Foundation and the Humane Society of Leon County
Funeral service to be held March 14, 2026 at 11 am followed by a reception at Celebration Baptist Church 3300 Shamrock St E, Tallahassee, Florida

The burial will take place at MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312, on the same day, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
