The Jacksonville Golf and Country Club announced a $30 million renovation project for its facilities.Augusta National Golf Club has donated $1.5 million to the U.S. Junior Golf National Development Program.The North Florida Junior Foundation has scheduled nine events for its summer tour across multiple counties.

The Jacksonville Golf and Country Club announced plans last year for a $30 million project to renovate its facilities, from the golf course to the pool and fitness center. 

The club released more renderings of its plans, “Blueprint for Tomorrow” on Feb. 26, and set a target date for Phase One construction to begin in September for the pool, casual bar and grill, dining and wellness center. 

The golf course renovation, supervised by architect Andy Staples of Scottsdale, Ariz., is Phase Two and will begin in the Fall of 2027. It includes rebuilding the tees, fairways, greens and bunkers, installing new drainage and irrigation systems.

Some aspects of the course, originally designed and built in 1989 by Clyde Johnston, with Fuzzy Zoeller as a player-consultant, will change dramatically. The double-green that served the par-4 ninth and 18th holes will be eliminated, with No. 9 becoming a drivable par-4 and No. 18 a dogleg left with water own the left side. 

Some of the greens also will be built with design features such as Redan, Biarittz and Punchbowl.

“JGCC has some great bones but the infrastructure is well past its useful life,” Staples said in a statement. “The plan not only addresses those critical needs, it gives us a chance to create something timeless. We’re blending classically inspired design elements with our own unique spin.” Â
