Nicole Morst, a Coral Springs resident, is running for Broward County School Board Seat Four.
A longtime volunteer and advocate for students and teachers, Morst said she will work to ensure that all Broward students receive the best education possible. She is especially committed to fighting for students in underserved schools. She wants to ensure that teachers are well paid and that every student receives the best possible education, regardless of where they live.
“I have been an advocate for students since 2017, and I have worked to build relationships with parents and educators,” said Morst.
Security has been a priority for Morst, and she has worked with district staff and the school board to establish single-entry points at local schools.
A mother of three children who have graduated from Broward County schools and one who is still attending, Morst has been chair of the North Area Advisory Council, made up of teachers, parents, students, and administrators. Morst has a passion for improving schools.
“I will work to make sure our schools are equitably funded and will work with local businesses and cities to partner in supporting our schools where they can,” said Morst.
If elected, Morst said she would sit down with teachers, parents, and students, talk with them, and determine their needs. “My goal is to leave things better than you found them,” said Morst.
Morst will be running against Dr. Sharry Kimmel, who holds a doctorate in Child, Youth, and Family Studies from Nova Southeastern University.
Kimmel was named Broward County Teacher of the Year in 1996 for her work with gifted students at Pembroke Lakes Elementary School. For the past 22 years, she has been a professor of teacher education at Broward College, according to the Kimmel campaign website.
