HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A man was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 4 on Monday afternoon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

A Ford F250 truck was heading west on I-4 in the center outside lane as a Jeep Cherokee and a Kenworth dump truck traveling ahead of it slowed in the same lane near milepost 9 just before 2 p.m.

The truck failed to stop and hit the back of the Jeep, pushing it forward until it hit the back of the dump truck, FHP said.

A passenger in the Jeep, a 34-year-old Riviera Beach man, was killed in the crash.

The driver, a 34-year-old Lake Park man, and two additional passengers, a 51-year-old Wesley Chapel woman and a 32-year-old West Palm Beach woman, were seriously injured in the crash, FHP said.

The Ford’s driver, a 32-year-old Thonotosassa man, suffered a minor injury, while the dump truck’s driver, a 44-year-old Tampa man, was uninjured, the agency said.
