The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the body of a man that was found at about 9 a.m. March 1 near the 12900 block of Indian River Drive.

A preliminary investigation shows the man may be connected to an incident in Brevard County that involved someone fleeing from the Sebastian Police Department and going into the Indian River Lagoon, according to the sheriff’s news release.

A multi-agency search with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was unsuccessful, according to the news release. Based on findings and recent weather conditions, they believe the man’s body may have gone south in the Indian River Lagoon before washing ashore in Indian River County.
