U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement told the City of Miami not to release a man accused of groping a driver and causing a crash in Little Havana because he is undocumented.
Oscar Ernesto Sanchez-Aguire, 26, is facing several charges for the Jan. 31 incident, which include battery and culpable negligence.
According to the ICE, Sanchez-Aguir is an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador.
“This is yet another example of how years of open border policies have resulted in a heartbreaking number of preventable attacks. This monster should never have been in our country in the first place and had the opportunity to prey on this innocent woman,” said former Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Every day we’re working to get illegal aliens out of our country before more innocent Americans are victimized.”
Sanchez-Aguire is accused of covering the victim’s mouth and groping her as she was providing a driving service to the suspect.
The victim then reportedly lost control of the car and crashed into another vehicle in the area of Southwest 6th Avenue and 7th Street in Little Havana.
Video posted on Only in Dade shows the aftermath of the collision. The hood of one car is severely damaged, and there’s debris scattered in the roadway.
It was not immediately known if anyone was injured.
Sanchez-Aguire allegedly fled on foot but was later caught in a parking lot.
