Andrew Jackson, Bishop Kenny, Fleming Island, Providence and Impact Christian all won region titles on Saturday and punched their ticket to the State Semifinals.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Five high school boys basketball teams on the First Coast punched their ticket to the State Semifinals with wins on Saturday night.

In 1A, Impact Christian came out on top of NFEI in an all-local matchup. The game was tied at 35 in the third quarter but then the Lions pulled away to win 61-46.

“They showed a lot of character, but they have been doing that all year. They’ve been in some tight games and I think that prepared them,” Impact Christian head coach Benjamin Jones said. “It’s amazing man, we know that we’re blessed, obviously, with us being a Christian school we give all the glory to God and, just thankful for the opportunity.”

In 2A, Providence took care of business against Orlando First Academy, cruising to a 64-37 win.

In 3A, Andrew Jackson closed out a tight game against Newberry to win 75-60. The Tigers are region champions for the seventh time in eight years. Now their eyes are firmly on clinching their first State Title since 1993.

In 4A, Bishop Kenny battled it out with Tallahassee Godby to win 54-42 after being tied at 23 at the half. It’s the Crusaders’ first trip to a State Semifinal since 2016.

In 5A, Fleming Island knocked off Columbia 69-45. It’s the Golden Eagles’ second trip to the final four in just the second time in program history.

“It’s a playoff, Columbia pushed us a bit, but we were able to tire them out. We got going a little bit in that third quarter and were able to get some separation, but we came and did what we were supposed to do,” Fleming Island head coach Traavis Chandler said.

All state semifinals and championship games will be played at UNF Arena starting next week.Â
