JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Atlantic Sun Conference announced its Academic All-Conference team, rewarding student-athletes for their excellence on and off the court this season. Among the honorees were a pair of Jacksonville Dolphins: senior Makiya Miller and junior Bailey Burns.

They are the second and third Academic All-Conference players in program history.

Burns is in her second year at Jacksonville University where she’s currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Sciences with a minor in biology. She’s earned a 3.64 GPA to this point while growing tremendously on the basketball court in year two.

She’s played in 25 games this season. She set a new career high with 14 points against Central Arkansas and scored in double figures seven times this season. She more than doubles her scoring from her first season at JU to this year.

Miller has been an impact addition for the Dolphins on and off the court. She currently holds a 4.0 GPA, pursuing her Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership.

On the court, Miller started all 29 regular season games, finishing third on the team with 8.3 points per game. She’s scored 20 points in a game twice, including tying her career high with 22 points against rivals UNF.
