Cross Creek Family Resource Center in Leon County provides free resources to families in need

  • March 2, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Children’s Home Society in Leon County is working to connect families with free resources through its Cross Creek Family Resource Center in Tallahassee.

Executive Director Tiffany Martin said the center brings multiple services under one roof, helping families overcome barriers like transportation.

“We know in Tallahassee, transportation can be a significant barrier to families, so having the ability to come to one place and access a variety of things is a huge asset to any family who may need some additional support,” Martin said.

The site offers food, clothing, laundry and cleaning supplies, along with a computer lab and other support tailored to families’ needs.

Inside the building, there’s a food pantry designed to resemble a grocery store, complete with frozen meats. Martin said the setup allows families to “shop” for essentials, adding dignity to the experience.

“Sometimes their stories are hidden within our community or aren’t widely known, so having the ability to have this accessible for them, it always reminds me that there are sometimes simple things that we can do and help support the family unit,” the director said.

Many families seeking help from the center are struggling with affordable housing and employment, Martin said. Providing necessities like food and clothing can ease stress at home and strengthen the family unit.

Services are free and available to any household with a child. There are no income requirements or waiting periods.

The center is located on Old St. Augustine Road, and there’s also a location in Fort Braden. Weekly events and workshops are offered throughout the month.
