TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Tallahassee State College men’s basketball team is playing the waiting game, as the Panhandle Conference ended in a four way tie, something that has never happened before in men’s hoops.
The Eagles, Chipola, Gulf Coast, and Northwest Florida State all finishing 7-5 in conference play, meaning what three teams get a bid to the Region Eight tournament is still undecided.
In a four way tie, the conference will use the Massey Ratings, a computer ranking system, as the tie break, and whatever they are as of 9:00 Wednesday morning will determine the Eagles fate.
“Chipola and us are the bottom two. We’re just decimal points behind them is what we’re being told,” said TSC head coach Corey Hendren. “On our end we just have to pray somehow that some of those games will help us. It’s out of our control now. It’s kind of just wait and see how it plays out. I hate it for our guys. You fee like you’re on the outside looking in even though you’ve done what you should to be in the position to be there.”
If the nationally ranked sixth Eagles are on the outside looking in, they could still receive a bid to the national tournament at the end of the month.
