A U.S. Marshal and a suspect were hospitalized after a shooting involving deputies in Vero Beach Monday night, officials said.

Three Indian River County Sheriff’s Office deputies were involved in the shooting along with one Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputy and U.S. Marshals, Indian River Sheriff’s Office officials said.

A U.S. Marshal was hit in the leg and hospitalized, but what expected to be okay, WPTV reported.

The suspect suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. His identity wasn’t released.

Authorities said the suspect had a warrant from Colorado and when they tried to take him into custody, he opened fire, and law enforcement returned fire, WPTV reported.

The sheriff’s office said their Criminal Investigations Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating the incident.
