TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A community memorial service is expected to be held Thursday in Tallahassee to honor the Reverend Jesse Jackson, a prominent civil rights leader who died two weeks ago at the age of 84.
Church, community and elected leaders, along with civic organizations, will gather “to pay tribute to one of the longest serving and most impactful Civil Rights voices spanning six decades,” according to Leon County Commissioner Bill Proctor.

During the service, Reverends R.B. Holmes and Stanley Walker will give keynote tributes and other community leaders will have the opportunity to give reflections on Jackson’s life and legacy, according to Proctor’s press release.
For those interested in attending, the memorial service is scheduled to take place at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 224 North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, starting at 6 p.m.
