A Tampa man died after being thrown from a truck and run over by the driver of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 early Tuesday morning, troopers say.

The man was driving a Dodge Ram 1500 north in the outside lane of I-75 near Bruce B. Downs Boulevard about 6 a.m. when he overtook the driver of a Chevy box truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The man struck the back of the box truck, and the Dodge “overturned multiple times,” the news release states. The man was thrown into the center lanes of the highway, where he was struck by a 50-year-old Riverview man driving a tractor-trailer.

No further information was immediately released.
