The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday that a Jacksonville caregiver has been arrested and charged with stealing nearly $100,000 from an elderly patient.
SJSO says that in January 2025, the patient reported that she noticed “a large amount of money” was missing from her bank account. Detectives determined that in February 2024, the victim’s caregiver, 38-year-old Stacy Ann Gordon, had opened a fraudulent credit card in her name. The account is said to have used the patient’s personal information and was linked to a business owned by Gordon.
The sheriff’s office says that from April to November 2024, more than $98,075.95 was stolen. Detectives say there was evidence to show that Gordon “committed the acts with the intent to permanently deprive the victim of her property.”
