ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – After University High School was forced to lock down over a shooting scare, deputies announced on Tuesday that they’ve caught the teen responsible.
Orange County deputies initially said that the district received a call about a shooting at the high school on Monday, prompting a huge response from law enforcement.
But after a search of the campus, investigators determined the entire incident was a “prank.”

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office revealed that a 14-year-old had been arrested for calling 911 to report an active shooter at the high school.
“That call elicited a massive law enforcement response — and those deputies could not be in their areas addressing real crime,” a release from the sheriff’s office reads. “All because someone thought it would be hilarious to call 911 and make up a story that is every parent’s and student’s nightmare.”
