PORT ST. LUCIE – A Port St. Lucie police officer and K9 successfully located a missing 13-year-old autistic boy, about five miles south of where he was reported missing on March 2, according to a Facebook posting by Port St. Lucie police
At about 5 p.m., March 2, Fort Pierce Police responded to the 2700 block of U.S. 1 for reports of a missing child.
After officers searched the area, surveillance video was located of the child walking toward a neighborhood on Grand Club Place.
Fort Pierce police then contacted Port St. Lucie Police at about 6 p.m., to request assistance of its K9 unit to track the child, while Fort Pierce Police’s drone unit searched the area, according to the Facebook posting.
Officer Robert Burdick and K9 Hoot tracked the missing 13-year-old in the woods near a railroad track at about 7 p.m..
At the same time, the Fort Pierce Police’s drone was able to illuminate the child, successfully locating him and eventually reuniting him with his family.
