TAMPA, Fla. — A “jellyfish” effect was seen around Tampa Bay after an early morning rocket launch on Wednesday.
SpaceX launched nearly 30 Starlink satellites into orbit just before 6 a.m. A Falcon 9 rocket sent up Starlink 10-40 mission from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
Most of the Tampa Bay area had clear skies right before 6 a.m. and was able to see the “jellyfish” effect from that side of the state.
The jellyfish effect is when the Falcon 9 rocket’s (or any rocket’s) exhaust plume grows and creates a jellyfish-like “cloud” from the exhaust that has a glowing appearance if the launch is near dawn and dusk.
