St. Pete police say the teen boy has non-life-threatening injuries, while the woman is stable.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla — St. Pete police are on the scene of a shooting that sent a teenage boy and woman to the hospital.

Officers responded around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday to the area of 15th Avenue South and 11th Street South, where there was a report of shots heard in the area.

When officials arrived, they found a crowd around a young teen boy and woman who had both been shot. Both were taken to a local hospital, where the boy has non-life-threatening injuries, while the woman is said to be stable.

St. Pete PD said one person is in custody so far who is being questioned. Officers also found and retrieved two weapons at the scene.

Officials say they believe the shooting was not a random act and involved the group in the area.

Nearby schools were placed on a temporary lockdown following the shooting, but have since reopened and are operating as normal.

The investigation into this shooting is ongoing.

Police are asking for neighbors in the area to come forward who may have witnessed the incident or have any surveillance cameras that capture the shooting taking place.
