A Jacksonville woman is facing multiple charges following a series of alleged assaults that occurred on Monday, March 2.

Carmen Mia Otero-Agosto, 33, was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with:

Felony assault on an individual with a disabilityAssault with a deadly weapon with a minor presentMisdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon(2) counts of simple assaultInjury to personal propertyMisdemeanor crime of domestic violence

According to arrest warrants, Otero-Agosto is accused of assaulting an individual with a disability while holding a pocketknife. The alleged assault reportedly occurred in the presence of a minor. Warrants state the suspect slapped the victim while holding the knife and committed additional assaults against two other individuals, including striking one victim with her fists and pulling another victim’s hair.

Authorities also allege she caused damage to a vehicle during the incident.

In a separate warrant dated Tuesday, March 3, Otero-Agosto was additionally charged with assault, inflicting physical injury on a detention officer. Records state that while a detention officer was performing official duties, the officer suffered serious bodily injury in the form of a bite to the forearm that required medical treatment at Onslow Memorial Hospital.

On that charge, Otero-Agosto received a $10,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, March 4.

She is currently being held at the Onslow County Detention Center without bond on the other charges.
