The popular suspended ride at Jurassic Park will undergo a temporary closure until mid-Spring, according to attraction hours from Universal.
Universal Website Update Shows Temporary Closure for Pteranodon Flyers

Pteranodon Flyers, the suspended kids-and-companion attraction in the Jurassic Park area of Universal Islands of Adventure, is currently closed for undisclosed reasons until May 2026.
According to the park’s operating calendar, the ride is expected to remain closed from February 27 through May 14, with a reopening planned the following day.
Located within the Jurassic Park section of the park, Pteranodon Flyers allows guests to soar above the land while suspended beneath the wings of a prehistoric Pteranodon. The gentle suspended coaster offers sweeping views of nearby attractions and lush jungle scenery as riders glide through the air in two-seat gondolas.
Due to its unique seating configuration, the attraction requires that an accompanying child ride with each adult, making it one of the park’s most distinctive family-oriented experiences.
Pteranodon Flyers first opened with Universal’s Islands of Adventure in 1999 as part of the park’s original lineup of attractions. The ride was designed to give younger guests a thrilling but approachable flying experience themed to the prehistoric animal kingdom featured in the Jurassic Park franchise.
Over the years, the attraction has remained popular with families, though its limited capacity and child rider requirement have made it one of the more difficult rides in the park for adults to experience.
Temporary refurbishments are common across theme parks as attractions undergo routine maintenance and upgrades to ensure smooth operations and safety. While details about the specific work being completed during this closure have not been announced, the ride is expected to return to service in mid-May ahead of the busy summer travel season. These closure timelines are not a guarantee, so it’s possible the planned reopening may shift between now and May 14.
