Scattered downpours could create brief inconveniences during the busy evening hours.

TAMPA, Fla. — A warm, late spring-like pattern is settling in across Tampa Bay, bringing above-average temperatures and daily afternoon to evening rain chances. A Weather Impact Alert is in effect Thursday and Friday evening — not for widespread rain, but for scattered downpours that could create brief inconveniences during the busy evening hours.

WHEN:

Thursday and Friday, mainly between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., with dry conditions expected through much of the morning and early afternoon before storms begin to develop.

WHAT:

Easterly winds are pulling in higher humidity, helping showers and a few non-severe thunderstorms bubble up late in the day. This is not expected to be a widespread rain event, but locally heavy downpours could cause brief slowdowns for the evening commute, kids getting off the bus, spring break visitors and outdoor events. Expect mainly dry conditions early, with spotty storms becoming more common late afternoon into the evening.

NEED:

Plan for the possibility of wet roads during the evening commute and allow a little extra travel time if you run into heavy rain. Keep rain gear handy for after-school activities and outdoor plans, and stay weather-aware by tracking updates with 10 Tampa Bay News.
