Four-star safety recruit KJ Caldwell is one of the top players at his position in the class of 2027. Caldwell plans to announce his commitment soon on April 3.

Rivals recently projected that Caldwell would commit to the Miami Hurricanes over the Georgia Bulldogs, Vanderbilt Commodores, Tennessee Volunteers and NC State Wolfpack. Caldwell would be a strong addition for Miami, who has the No. 21 recruiting class in the 2027 cycle with four commitments. The Hurricanes are bound to improve upon their current ranking. Caldwell would be Miami’s top ranked commitment.

The four-star plays high school football for Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia. The 6-foot, 175-pound defensive back is ranked as the No. 75 recruit in the country, the No. 5 safety and the No. 8 player in Georgia.

Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia hate to miss out on in-state recruits, so the Bulldogs won’t go down without a fight. However, Georgia has lost a few recent recruiting battles to Miami and sometimes is unwilling to match the Hurricanes’ aggressiveness in name, image and likeness deals.

Georgia football has five commitments in the class of 2027 and the nation’s No. 8 recruiting class. The Bulldogs have one commitment at defensive back from five-star cornerback Donte Wright.
