Prescribed burns underway at Camp Lejeune; Jacksonville residents may notice smoke

The Jacksonville Fire Department is advising residents that prescribed burns are taking place on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune today.

Officials said that based on forecasted wind direction, smoke and odor from the controlled burns may be noticeable in parts of Jacksonville.

Residents who are sensitive to smoke are encouraged to take appropriate precautions.
