Burn bans extended in several North Central Florida counties

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Several North Central Florida counties are extending their burn bans.

Leaders in Columbia, Gilchrist and Levy counties decided to keep their bans in place longer.

Levy and Gilchrist’s bans are now set to run through at least Thursday of next week, and Columbia County’s ban was extended through March 19.

Putnam County leaders lifted their ban this week.

Alachua County’s ban is scheduled to end on Friday unless it is extended.
