A North Carolina businessman has been arrested in Perry,
Florida, on financial crimes charges.

Keith Sanders, 46 of Raleigh, North Carolina, was arrested in
Perry, Florida, on one count of grand theft and one count of scheme to defraud
a financial institution.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement began an
investigation into Sanders on Nov. 4 , 2025. Agents received information from
Perry Police Department that Sanders had falsified a loan application with Blue
Coast Federal Credit Union for more than $198,000. Sanders later defaulted on
the loan.

During the investigation, it was found that Sanders also had
falsely claimed he was a resident of Panama City and worked in Tallahassee,
Florida. Sanders also provided the credit union with a false title for a boat
that did not exist.

On Feb.23, 2026, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement
obtained an arrest warrant, Sanders surrendered at the Taylor County Jail.

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina
State Bureau of Investigation assisted in the investigation. The investigation
remains active.
