New video shows Fort Lauderdale Police officers fatally shooting an armed man who authorities said opened fire multiple times last month.

The body camera video released by the department on Friday shows the Feb. 14 shooting of 43-year-old Luis Felipe Londono Ospina.

According to police, officers had responded to the 900 block of Chateau Park Drive for a disturbance.

While officers were there, Ospina arrived on a bicycle, armed himself with a handgun and began firing multiple times while approaching the officers, police said.

Officers approached and yelled at Ospina to drop the weapon, but he continued to fire, officials said.

“Drop the gun! Drop the f—ing gun! Drop the gun now!” officers are heard yelling in the video/

When he lowered his gun toward the officers, they opened fire, hitting him multiple times, police said.

Ospino was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Ospino wasn’t involved in the initial disturbance call.

“The initial disturbance that officers were dispatched to was a routine, unrelated verbal dispute with no known connection to Ospina. Ospina was not involved in the dispute. There is no on-going investigation into this disturbance,” the department said in a statement.

The three officers involved in the shooting – Officer Allen Duarte, Officer Bryan David and Officer Eric Zeplin – were placed on administrative leave with pay but after an initial review, were returned to full service.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident, which is standard practice in police shootings.
