Of that $35 million in tourist development tax dollars, $20 million would go toward funding either the 2029 or 2030 NBA All-Star Week, which the Greater Orlando Sports Commission is spearheading. Up to $500,000 in TDT will go towards bidding for those events. If Orlando is named as a host city for the 2028 Olympic qualifiers, $15 million in TDT is expected to fund the event. Up to $150,000 will go into the bidding process. The dates being considered are May 25-28, 2028; June 1-4, 2028; June 8-11, 2028. According to the sports commission, $48 million is the projected economic impact. Siegel also said the projected attendance for the Olympic qualifiers is expected to be at 100,000.
