Fort Lauderdale Police Release Body Cam Video of Police-Involved Shooting | NewsRadio WFLA

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) – The Fort Lauderdale Police Department (FLPD) sharing body camera video from an officer involved shooting that occurred on February 14, 2026.

The incident occurred on Saturday, February 14th, 2026, at approximately 12:47 p.m. in the 900 block of Chateau Park Drive in the City of Fort Lauderdale.

According to the investigation, officers responded to a disturbance but were greeted by an armed Hispanic male who was unrelated to the original call for service.

FLPD reports the suspect rode up on a bicycle and remained nearby for approximately seven minutes. Then he allegedly approached the officers with the firearm extended into the air and began firing multiple times.

Police say the shooting caught officers off guard because they were handling the initial disturbance call when the shots were fired.

Video released of the incident shows officers giving the suspect clear verbal commands to drop his gun. According to police, the suspect did not comply, lowered the weapon and continued to fire at the officers forcing them to return fire.

Three FLPD officers discharged their department-issued firearms, striking the suspect multiple times.

Officers immediately began life-saving efforts until Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived and transported him to Broward Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect is identified as 44-year-old Luis Felipe Londono Ospina of Fort Lauderdale.

FDLE and internal affairs are investigating the incident which is standard for an officer-involved shooting.

The FLPD officers involved are Officer Allen Duarte, Officer Bryan David and Officer Eric Zeplin. They have been reassigned after being placed on administrative leave with pay. Following an initial review of the incident by FLPD’s Office of Internal Affairs, Officers Duarte, David and Zeplin have since returned to full duty.

on Saturday, February 14th, 2026, at approximately 12:47 p.m. in the 900 block of Chateau Park Drive in the City of Fort Lauderdale. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>According to the investigation, officers responded to a disturbance but were greeted by an armed Hispanic male who was unrelated to the original call for service.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>FLPD reports the suspect rode up on a bicycle and remained nearby for approximately seven minutes. Then he allegedly approached the officers with the firearm extended into the air and began firing multiple times. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Police say the shooting caught officers off guard because they were handling the initial disturbance call when the shots were fired. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Video released of the incident shows officers giving the suspect clear verbal commands to drop his gun. According to police, the suspect did not comply, lowered the weapon and continued to fire at the officers forcing them to return fire. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Three FLPD officers discharged their department-issued firearms, striking the suspect multiple times. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Officers immediately began life-saving efforts until Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived and transported him to Broward Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The suspect is identified as 44-year-old Luis Felipe Londono Ospina of Fort Lauderdale.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>FDLE and internal affairs are investigating the incident which is standard for an officer-involved shooting.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The FLPD officers involved are Officer Allen Duarte, Officer Bryan David and Officer Eric Zeplin.
