TAMPA, Fla. — Organizers are gearing up for the annual Empowering Women Through Entrepreneurship conference in Tampa this Saturday, not only to uplift women but also to encourage female business owners during Women’s History Month.
One of the business owners who is a part of the conference this year is Harriett Jackson from Venue 2106 in Tampa.
Jackson first launched her restaurant and lounge with her partner two years ago and says stepping out to become an entrepreneur took a lot of courage and encouragement from other female business owners.
Jackson is one of several female business owners from across the Bay area who will meet with other fellow entrepreneurs and promote their own work and assist with others looking to own their own company.
“It gives us a sense of becoming and knowing that we can also accomplish, own and be entrepreneurs, business owners and be successful in it. So, to empower a young woman, a young entrepreneur to let them know it can be done. We did it,” Jackson said.
Reports show that, globally, one in four women entrepreneurs expect to see growth within five years by employing six or more people.

The theme of this year’s event is “power.” Organizer and entrepreneur Daryl Hych said they want women to understand part of having true power is when you empower someone else.
“We’re bringing women from across the region, across the world, across the country to experience entrepreneurship like never before,” he said. “When I started researching as an entrepreneur what was happening in the marketplace, I quickly began to realize women were dominating this space in entrepreneurship and no one else was hosting a conference.”
The event is this Saturday, March 7, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at South University located at 4401 Gimes Avenue in Tampa. Those interested can register at the event.
