Tallahassee, Florida – Residents across the Florida Panhandle and south Georgia will experience summer-like temperatures Friday, with highs climbing into the low to mid-80s across much of the region.

The National Weather Service in Tallahassee says well-above average temperatures and daily rain chances will continue over the next several days, giving the area a weather pattern that feels more like early summer than early March.

Communities including Tallahassee, Valdosta, Albany, Bainbridge, and Dothan are expected to see afternoon highs around 82 to 86 degrees Friday.

Coastal communities such as Apalachicola and Panama City will be slightly cooler due to the influence of the Gulf, with highs generally in the upper 60s to lower 70s near the immediate coastline.

Forecasters say scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible later this afternoon, particularly as daytime heating helps storms develop.

While widespread severe weather is not expected, some storms could bring brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning.

Drivers traveling across major routes such as Interstate 10, U.S. Highway 19, and U.S. Highway 231 may encounter brief downpours or thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours.

Looking ahead, meteorologists expect above-normal temperatures to continue into early next week, with highs remaining in the 80s across much of the region.

Daily chances for rain and thunderstorms will also remain in the forecast, especially during the afternoon and evening hours when heat and humidity peak.

Residents are encouraged to stay weather aware and monitor the sky if outdoor plans are scheduled later today, as thunderstorms can develop quickly in warm spring-like conditions.
