JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A woman is dead following a shooting in Jacksonville on Saturday night, police say.
Officials say at 10:23 p.m., officers responded to Gum Branch Road at Williamsburg Parkway regarding a shooting.
Officers arrived on scene and located a woman dead with an apparent gunshot wound. A male subject was on scene and he was detained, according to police.
Police say this is an active homicide investigation. More information will be released when it is available.
