A South Florida man wants the driver who slammed into him head-on and took off in Miami caught.
Osney Abad said he was in his truck on Oct. 6, on the way to work, when someone in a Jeep hit him straight on. The crash sent Abad and his truck down the street. Seconds later, the driver in the Jeep took off.
“I saw the light and then beep,” Abad said.
Abad said that after that, he didn’t remember much. He spent several days in the hospital. He described his injuries to NBC6 on Thursday, including injuries to his back, arm and leg.
“I’m alive, but I don’t know how to tell the story,” Abad said.
Miami Police are searching for the driver who they say slammed head-on into a pick-up truck and kept going. NBC6’s Niko Clemmons reports
Victor Lopez, who lives feet away from where the hit-and-run crash happened, said he was inside and heard the collision, but didn’t see it until he watched surveillance video of the crash weeks later.
“It just sounded like a crash, you hear it, and when I came out to see it was just the truck,” Lopez said.
More than two weeks later, police are still searching for the person who was driving the Jeep.
Abad said he’s grateful he’s alive. All he wants now is for police to find the person who he says could have ended his life.
“You don’t do that, you should have stayed even if it was your fault, because now you don’t know if I’m dead or alive,” Abad said.
